The NPR Science desk and Morning Edition have teamed up for a series about one of the world's most celebrated and powerful beans (or berries to be more accurate). All this week (April 22-26) during Morning Edition you can hear the Coffee Week series with stories behind the coffee in your cup — from the farms of Guatemala to the corner café.

As children, we are frequently told to never, ever write on the walls at home or at school. And we dream of an adulthood filled with extra recess, as many cookies as you can eat and Crayola masterpieces adorning every surface.
Unfortunately, these dreams don't usually pan out quite as we had wished (NPR has way less scheduled recess time than I had hoped...), and there are few occasions to scribble with abandon. But as an adult, if you wait for the perfect moment, you might just get a bit more flexibility in the rules.

There's a new team of journalists at NPR. You'll see their work online at the Code Switchblog and hear their voices on air, exploring "the overlapping themes of race, ethnicity and culture, how they play out in our lives and communities, and how all of this is shifting." When you listen to NPR on your local Member Station, the audio always sounds so pleasant and calm. The programming floats along, bouncing seamlessly from one topic to another, from one program to another, going off without a hitch.
Except when it doesn't.
Over the last 42 years, there have been plenty of glitches, snags, slip-ups and utter meltdowns when it comes to using the technical tools for recording and playing audio. A few employees agreed to tell us about some of these less-than-perfect moments.
