Report: Pre-K Program Shrinks Academic Gap

The Arkansas Department of Education and the state Department of Human Services are working together to fund a Pre-K program for less fortunate children.

As KUAR’s Kezia Nanda reports, officials said research shows that since the program started, the education gap between economically-disadvantaged and affluent children has shrunk.

The event was held at Amboy Elementary School in North Little Rock, which hosts one of the Pre-K programs supported by a state-funded program for economically-disadvantaged students, called the Arkansas Better Chance or ABC.

Crews Continue To Repair Damage From Thursday's I-40 Accident

Highway officials say the whole support structure where a tractor-trailer hit a bridge in the fiery accident Thursday will have to be replaced.

Spokesman Danny Straessle with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said the Young Road overpass near the Crystal Hill exit on Interstate 40 in North Little Rock is expected to be re-opened Friday evening with 200 tons weight restrictions.

Court Offers Amnesty for People Who Fail To Pay Court Fines

Starting March 15^th , the Pulaski County Circuit Court will be granting amnesty to those who have outstanding warrants for failure to pay court fines. Over 2,000 people who have warrants for the offense must actually pay their fine, but can avoid additional penalties.
