Wintry Weather, Chilly Temps Predicted In Arkansas

The National Weather Service says colder temperatures and wintry precipitation is possible this week in Arkansas.

Forecasters say a cold front is expected to move through the state Wednesday and stall out in the southern part of Arkansas. The weather service says heavy rainfall is possible Thursday into Friday before transitioning to a wintry mix.

The weather service says more wintry weather is possible Saturday. Northwest Arkansas is expected to see snow, with a wintry mix expected in other areas of the state.

Delta Regional Authority To Announce Investment

Delta Regional Authority officials are to join with local officials in southeastern Arkansas to announce a $175,000 investment to provide for training of healthcare professionals in the region.

The announcement is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Walnut Lake Country Club in Pickens, just south of Dumas. The investment is intended to help employees at the Delta Technological/Education Center in Dumas receive training that will allow them to train healthcare workers.

Arkansas Doctors To Perform 26 Free Surgeries

On Dec. 7, a group of surgeons will perform a marathon day of surgery at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, replacing hips and knees for more than two dozen patients who have no insurance and can't afford the procedures.

Everything and everyone involved in the process - from the surgeons and nurses to the artificial joints - comes free of cost to the patients, many of whom have been suffering from debilitating pain for decades.

Petition To Recall Texarkana Director Is Dropped

An effort to recall one of four Texarkana city directors has been dropped while petitions to recall the other three directors remain.

The Texarkana Gazette reported Sunday that a petition to recall Director Sue Johnson filed by Miller County Emergency Management Director Larry Pritchett was dropped by Pritchett.

ExxonMobil: Eight Months and 17 Lawsuits Later

Lawsuits and allegations of safety violations are mounting against ExxonMobil over the rupture of a pipeline that spilled thousands of barrels of oil in Mayflower. 

Over eight months have passed since the Pegasus Pipeline ruptured and there are at least 17 lawsuits filed against Exxon or its subsidiaries in state and federal courts.

Earlier this month the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration alleged nine "probable" violations of safety regulations related to the spill.

'Code Word' Billboard Vandalized In Harrison

Authorities are investigating after someone vandalized a controversial billboard along the Harrison Bypass.

The billboard went up in October and reads, "Anti-Racist is a Code Word for Anti-White." According to the Harrison Daily Times, someone vandalized the billboard early Friday to now say, "Anti-Racist is a Code Word for Love."

Arkansas Senate Race Focuses On Family Around Holiday

Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican Senate hopeful and U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton have traded jabs over the past few months as Arkansas' U.S. Senate race got underway.

But during Thanksgiving week, the race has been focusing on family.

Pryor's campaign posted a recipe for his mother's Scotch fudge cake online.

And Cotton's campaign says it's airing a new television ad featuring his mother starting Friday in northeast Arkansas.
