As final work is being completed to open Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess, Arkansas as a museum, his daughter Rosanne Cash came to Little Rock over the weekend for a sold out show and to be honored for her work in helping to restore the small house.
Governor Mike Beebe and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission are announcing an initiative they say will show that Arkansas has the capability for rapid expansion and large-scale industrial development.
It's being called the "Advance Arkansas Site" initiative and state leaders say it will better position the state to compete for projects requiring large acreage.
Forecasters say a narrow band of Arkansas will see some freezing rain through early Monday afternoon before temperatures rise and end the threat.
The Storm Prediction Center predicted the worst to be along Interstate 30 in southwestern Arkansas and then points north of there, to about a line from Fort Smith to Batesville.
The far northern edge of the heaviest precipitation will like be sleet. The freezing precipitation could also extend to the Texas-Arkansas border, and clip a portion of southeastern Oklahoma, but change over to just a cold rain as temperatures rise.
A winter storm warning remains in place for parts of southwest Arkansas as a storm system makes its way through the state.
The National Weather Service says a mix of sleet and freezing rain is possible Monday for western parts of the state, including the Hope, Mena and Texarkana areas. Forecasters say ice accumulations of one-tenth of an inch are possible in the areas.
Much of the state is under a winter weather advisory, with sleet expected in many areas. Forecasters say the precipitation should transition to mostly rain before tapering off by mid-afternoon Monday.
