Names Omitted From Hallowed Senior Walk At UA

More than 300 names from the class of 2012 will have to be added to the University of Arkansas' Senior Walk.

The famed Senior Walk at the University of Arkansas that contains names of graduates dating back almost 140 is incomplete and will have to be redone.

More than 30 graduates in the class of 2012 who had signed up to be included among the engraved names on the campus sidewalk the university advertises worldwide were inadvertently left off.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the oversight is attributed to the conversion from paper graduation applications to online submissions.

Governor's Radio Address Touts 'Private Option'

Arkansas is moving forward with a new plan to implement part of the Affordable Care Act to pay for health insurance for the state’s working poor now that the legislature has wrapped up its business.

Governor Mike Beebe used his weekly radio address to highlight the benefits of the state’s new “private option” of expanding health insurance with money intended for Medicaid.

Chelsea Clinton Urges Teens To Push Service With Social Media

Chelsea Clinton helped pack food boxes at the Arkansas Rice Depot Friday after a lunchtime discussion with are high school students to emphasize the importance of community service.

The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is urging kids to use social media and technology to encourage their peers and parents to participate in community service.

Chelsea Clinton visited with students from several Little Rock High Schools during a lunchtime panel discussion Friday. The topics ranged from health and technology to her likelihood of running for political office. Clinton said not now.

Properly Disposing Drugs Will Protect Kids, Environment, And Potential Abusers

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says a 2007 study found that Arkansas rank the highest in the number of teen abuse of prescription pain relievers.

In its effort to protect children, potential abusers, and environment, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is partnering with over 300 agencies, including the Arkansas Department of Human Services, the state Department of Health, the Sheriff's Associations, the Governor’s Office, and the Board of Pharmacy, to provide locations for public to bring unneeded and expired medications.

Community And Environmental Groups To Mark One-Month Anniversary Of ExxonMobil Spill

An event Monday will mark the one-month anniversary of the rupture of an oil pipeline in Mayflower. More than 200 thousand gallons of raw crude was spilled in the residential neighborhood.

Forecasters Call For Some Chance Of Hail And Damaging Winds Friday And Saturday

Some hail and damaging wind can be seen in the south east area of Arkansas Friday and Saturday. 

Meteorologist Julie Lesko, with the National Weather Service, said, “We do expect showers and thunderstorms much of Friday and especially during the overnight hours into Saturday morning.”

“Best chance of anything severe in Arkansas will be Saturday afternoon and that is just chance of maybe larger hail and gustier wind but that mainly south of Little Rock area and south east Arkansas,” said Lesko.

Peabody Hotel In Little Rock To Become Marriott Next Week

Peabody Hotel in Little Rock.

Officials say the Peabody Hotel in downtown Little Rock will switch over to the Marriott brand next week.

Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO Gretchen Hall says the changeover will happen Wednesday.

Hall says the Peabody's signature ducks will take their last march in Little Rock within the next week.

In December, the Advertising and Promotion Commission signed an agreement to lease the Peabody to a Tennessee-based investment company, which settled on the Marriott brand.
