Arkansas State Police say a 9-year-old girl is among three people killed in a shooting near Delight in Pike County.
The ASP said in a news release Sunday that the three were found Saturday night after authorities received a 911 call reporting a shooting southwest of Delight. Troopers say 33-year-old Dana Hill and 54-year-old Julie Hartsfield were dead at the scene and 9-year-old Autumn Hartsfield was found wounded and later died at a Hot Springs hospital. The ASP says one man is being held for questioning about the shooting.
U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki has announced $1.3 million in federal grants to help homeless military veterans at two organizations in Arkansas.
The St. Francis House in Little Rock will receive about $600,000 while Seven Hills Homeless Center in Fayetteville is to receive the remainder of the grant as part of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.
The grants are among 319 awarded to agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
