Federal authorities say a Garland County deputy sheriff has been arrested on a prostitution-related charge.
U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge and FBI Special Agent in Charge Randall Coleman announced Friday that Deputy Neil Parliment was arrested Thursday night on a charge of enticing an individual to engage in prostitution.
Online jail records show Parliment is being held without bond in the Union County Jail in El Dorado.
Prosecutors accuse Parliment of bringing a prostitute from Memphis, Tenn., to Hot Springs to have sex for money.
Authorities in northern Arkansas are searching for a child that was reported to have been seen walking into a wooded area in the region.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said in a news release Thursday that his office's helicopter was assisting Izard County authorities in the search for the child that witnesses reported seeing entering the woods northeast of Violet Hill on Thursday afternoon.
Neither Montgomery nor Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence immediately returned phone calls seeking comment.
Two structures in Magnolia have been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Banner-News reports that the president's house at Southern Arkansas University and the Rushton Clinic in Magnolia were named to the list after consideration earlier this year by the state review board of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.
