2014 Wall Calendar: September
A few weeks ago we shared a piece of NPR calendar art such a long time coming that its roots can be traced back to a time of cassette tapes. Turns out, we've got another talented artist adding to the 2014 NPR Wall Calendar who had big dreams at an early age.
"I've been drawing my own characters since I could hold a pencil," illustrator, designer and screen printer Graham Erwin told the site One Minute With. "I took art classes at a local college starting in 1st grade... and I pretty much knew immediately that it was something I would be doing for the rest of my life."
Working in Columbus, OH (and listening to NPR Member Station WCBE, of course), Erwin has produced an eclectic portfolio of art, designing everything from Nightmare Before Christmas screen prints to posters for the Dave Matthews Band to mad scientist-inspired promo art for a children's hospital event. This diversity of interests is common to Erwin and NPR, which covers everything from science to film, and is just the thing he captured in this art for the calendar. See more of his work @GrahamErwin.
Every year, we ask artists and illustrators to channel their NPR listening (and love) into art for the NPR Wall Calendar, and we're sharing these designs with you. The 2014 NPR Wall Calendar is available for purchase in the NPR Shop at shop.npr.org.
