Arkansas' 2nd District Candidates Meet At Debate

The candidates for Arkansas' 2nd District congressional seat say they have problems with new health care law.

Republican French Hill, Democrat Pat Hays and Libertarian Debbie Standiford each appeared at a debate that will be shown Monday night on the Arkansas Educational Television Network.

Hill said the Affordable Care Act tried to do too much in areas of the nation's health care system that he said didn't need to be addressed. Hays said he would have voted against the law, but that he supported the "private option" Medicaid plan that extends insurance to poorer Arkansans.

Standiford said the health care law was an example of government interfering with what should be addressed only by the free market.

Hill and Standiford also oppose a minimum wage increase; Hays favors one.
