Members of Arkansas' U.S. House delegation are asking the U.S. Department of Defense to finish a report on whether two Arkansas military members who were shot outside a Little Rock recruiting center should be eligible for Purple Hearts.
Arkansas congressmen Tom Cotton, Rick Crawford, Tim Griffin and Steve Womack also said in the letter Thursday that eligibility should be reviewed for victims of the 2009 shootings at Fort Hood in Texas.
In Arkansas, Pvt. William Andrew Long was killed and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula was wounded in a 2009 shooting outside a military recruiting center. Abdulhakim Muhammad is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to capital murder and attempted capital murder.
The Arkansas delegation says the Purple Heart report should have been completed by midyear, but it's still not done.
