Arkansas Couple Arrested Near Prescott For Carrying Meth

An Arkansas couple is facing charges after authorities say they transported methamphetamine in Arizona.

Yavapai County Sheriff's officials said Wednesday that 59-year-old Wallace McMaster and his wife, 56-year-old Sherri McMaster, each are being held on $80,000 bonds on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs for sale and the transportation/selling of dangerous drugs.

They say the couple's pickup truck was stopped May 14 for a traffic violation on Interstate 40. A deputy says the McMasters appeared nervous and a drug-sniffing canine detected the possible presence of contraband.

Authorities say a search turned up a cooler with more than half a pound of meth. They say Wallace McMaster admitted he and his wife were attempting to transport the drugs to sell in Arkansas. The couple lives in Van Buren.
