Attorneys for an Arkansas school district say disparities in teacher salaries and transportation show that the state hasn't lived up to the promises of the reforms enacted to end a long-running school funding case.
Attorneys for the Deer/Mount Judea School District on Thursday asked the state Supreme Court to revive its lawsuit challenging the way the state funds education.
A Pulaski County judge dismissed the district's case in 2011 and rejected a motion to reconsider it, ruling that the district's claims had previously been addressed in the long-running Lake View school funding case.
An attorney for the state warned that reviving the case could lead to "continual litigation" over school funding.
The Lake View school funding case ended in 2007 when justices ruled that Arkansas had funded its schools adequately.
