The Republican Party of Arkansas says a district chairman has resigned a day after he was quoted saying that Hillary Clinton "would probably get shot at the state line" if she ran for president in 2016.
GOP Chairman Doyle Webb says Johnny Rhoda resigned Wednesday as 2nd District Republican chairman.
On Tuesday, U.S. News reported that Rhoda said in an interview that he didn't believe Clinton was popular in Arkansas and that a presidential campaign wouldn't be well-received.
Webb said in a statement that Rhoda was "apologetic" for the statements and that they were an unnecessary distraction for the party.
