Arkansas Man Dies During Chase After Pulling Gun On Trooper

Arkansas State Police say a Forrest City man died in a traffic accident after pointing a gun at a trooper and then fleeing.

State police say a trooper pulled over 31-year-old Justen Williams about 12:15 a.m. Thursday on Arkansas 1 near its intersection with Interstate 40. The agency said Williams pointed a gun at the trooper, then sped away.

Troopers chased Williams on I-40 until he exited at Widener community, 30 miles west of Memphis, Tennessee. According to state police, Williams lost control while speeding across railroad tracks. The vehicle struck a tree and caught on fire.

Officers pulled Williams from the car but were not able to save his life. State Police say the results of their investigation will be reviewed by the local prosecuting attorney.
