Arkansas Panel To Discuss Mayflower Oil Spill Effects

A panel discussion set in Little Rock will review how the Mayflower oil spill last year has affected that community so far, which is about 30 miles northwest of Arkansas' capital city.

The event is scheduled for Monday afternoon at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Panelists will speak about the impact and the lessons learned from ExxonMobil's Pegasus pipeline rupture in March 2013, which spilled thousands of gallons of heavy crude oil into the Mayflower area.

Among those expected to speak are Faulkner County Judge Allen Dodson, Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin, Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel and Tammie Hynum, the chief of the Hazardous Waste Division of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.
