The Arkansas Realtors Association says the number of houses sold in March made a big jump over the same period last year. Sales of homes across the state increased by 15 percent over March of last year, according to the Realtors Association. They say the prices of those homes also rose by an average of 8 percent over the same time the previous year.
Among the leading counties in homes sold and rising prices: Benton, Pulaski, Washington and Saline Counties, with Sebastian and Faulkner close behind. Benton County showed an 18 percent increase and Saline showed a 27 percent increase in sold homes.
These numbers are a marked improvement over the first two months of the year. In January, home sales declined by a percent and in February they increased by eight percent compared to the previous year.
