Arkansas Senate President To Oversee Lt. Gov. Employees

Arkansas Senate President Michael Lamoureux says he'll supervise the four employees of former Lt. Gov. Mark Darr, who stepped down last week over campaign finance and ethics violations.

Lamoureux on Wednesday said he'll now rely on the four workers to help him carry out his duties now that Darr is out of office.

Darr submitted his formal resignation letter on Friday, three weeks after announcing he'd leave office over an $11,000 fine he received from the Ethics Commission.

Darr's resignation makes Lamoureux the next in line as acting governor if Gov. Mike Beebe is out of state or otherwise unable to serve.

Lamoureux said he doesn't plan on taking Darr's salary, signing any legislation in Beebe's absence or using the services of state police.
