Arkansas State Police Lieutenant Pleads Guilty In Drug Case

A former Arkansas State Police lieutenant has pleaded guilty to a drug charge.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports Sedrick Reed was accused of taking drugs from state police's evidence room and selling them to a dealer.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday to a drug charge in exchange for having four more charges being dismissed.

Reed acknowledges that in 2006 he sold marijuana that had been seized from a traffic stop. He also said that between 2011 and 2013, he took cocaine and heroin from the evidence room. Before his arrest, Reed supervised the room.

Reed also says he profited from the resale of the drugs, earning more than $200,000.

Reed was fired and arrested last year on accusations he removed drugs from the agency's room.
