Arkansas Water Plan Meetings Set For June

Arkansas Water Plan

The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission is scheduling a series of public meetings throughout the month of June that will allow Arkansans to ask questions and make comments on updating the Arkansas Water Plan.

Edward Swaim with the Commission says the plan is about identifying what the state's water resources are, what the water needs are, and where programs or policies need to be implemented to best manage water resources.

Swaim says this is the second of four rounds of public meetings.

Each public meeting is scheduled for 90 minutes, and information regarding locations, dates and times is below:

*Arkadelphia: June 3, 6:30 p.m.; Henderson State University, Garrison Center Lecture Hall, 1045 McKnight Dr.

*Fort Smith: June 4, 6:30 p.m.; Fort Smith Convention Center, 800 Rogers Ave.

*Pine Bluff: June 4, 9:00 a.m.; (Water Plan Presentation begins at 11:00 a.m.); Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts Meeting, Family Church, 2500 Hwy 104.

*Little Rock: June 5, 1:30 p.m.; Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Auditorium, No. 2 Natural Resources Dr.

*Stuttgart: June 6, 6:30 p.m.; Phillips Community College, Grand Prairie Center, Salon B, 2709 Highway 165 South.

*Harrison: June 6, 6:30 p.m.; North Arkansas College, Durand Center, Durand B, 303 North Main St.

*Russellville: June 6, 9:00 a.m.; (Water Plan Presentation begins at 11:30); Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts Meeting, Lake Point Conference Center, 227 State Road Hwy 333 South.

*Fayetteville: June 11, 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center, 1335 West Knapp St.

*Clinton: June 12, 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Annex Court House Room, 1414 Hwy 65 South.

*Searcy: June 13, 1:00 p.m.; Carmichael Community Center, 801 South Elm St.

*Jonesboro: June 17, 6:30 p.m.; ASU Convocation Center, Stadium Blvd.

*Forrest City: June 18, 6::30 p.m.; East Arkansas Community College, Fine Arts Center Banquet Hall, 1700 New Castle Rd.

*Heber Springs: June 19, 5:30 p.m.; Community Center, 201 Bobbie Jean Lane.

*Smackover: June 20, 6:30 p.m.; Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources, 3853 Smackover Hwy.
