Beebe Endorses Ross For Governor

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has endorsed fellow Democrat Mike Ross in the race to succeed Beebe as governor.

Beebe on Saturday endorsed Ross' 2014 gubernatorial bid.

Ross became the only announced Democratic candidate for governor last month after former Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter dropped out of the race for the party's nomination. Ross represented Arkansas' 4th Congressional District for 12 years and announced he was running for governor in April.

Beebe is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.

Former Congressman Asa Hutchinson, Little Rock businessman Curtis Coleman and state Representative Debra Hobbs of Rogers are seeking the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

Each of the three GOP candidates called Beebe's endorsement of Ross no surprise.
