Benton County Sheriff Arrested On Tampering Charges

Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck

Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck has been arrested on two charges, including one felony.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported Tuesday that Cradduck was arrested on a felony count of tampering with a public record and a misdemeanor count of tampering.

Cradduck has been under investigation for allegedly trying to backdate pay for an employee of the county jail.

KHOG-TV reports that Cradduck's next court date is scheduled for Feb. 29th.

Arkansas State Police have investigated allegations by two jail employees that they were demoted by Cradduck for cooperating with an investigation into allegations Cradduck ordered payroll records for another jail employee be altered to show an earlier hire date.

Cradduck has denied ordering the records to be falsified and called the allegations politically motivated.
