Bill Clinton Rallies College Students In Northwest Arkansas

Former President Bill Clinton is in his old haunts of northwestern Arkansas, hoping to rally college students into voting for Democrats next month.

With its candidates for governor and U.S. Senate running neck-and-neck with Republicans, the Democratic Party wants to ensure left-leaning young people turn out for the midterm elections. Clinton held rallies this week at three of the state's largest universities.

He wore the school colors Tuesday at the University of Arkansas, where he formerly taught law, and helped lead the crowd in a "Woo-Pig-Sooie" cheer. Northwest Arkansas is a Republican stronghold, though Democrats hold their own in and around the campus.

Many students have little knowledge of Clinton's tenure. When Clinton left the White House in 2001, today's college seniors would have been 10 years old.
