Complaints Filed Against Arkansas Attorney General Candidates

Two ethics complaints have been filed against two Arkansas attorney general candidates, and they both involve campaign ads.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports a Little Rock attorney filed a complaint with the state's ethics commission against Republican candidate Leslie Rutledge. He argues she violated several rules when she appeared in a TV ad produced and paid for by an out-of-state group.

Rutledge's campaign said in a statement the complaint is just a distraction created by her opponents in her bid for the attorney general's office.

On Tuesday, the state's Republican Party accused Democratic candidate Nate Steel of abusing his authority as a Nashville city attorney by using police officers and their equipment in his campaign ads.

Steel said in a statement that he's "never abused the positions of public trust" he holds.
