Contemporary Artists To Show At Crystal Bridges

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

In marking the second anniversary of its opening, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is announcing a major exhibition of contemporary artists that will open late next year.

The museum in Bentonville announced Monday that the show, called "State of the Art," will open Sept. 13 and run through Jan. 5., 2015.

Crystal Bridges curators have visited more than 400 artists' studios to select pieces for the exhibition, which will feature works by more than 100 artists.

Museum President Don Bacigalupi says that examining a wide range of contemporary American artists can give insight to the nation's challenges and concerns, as well as what proves inspiring.

An exhibition of 101 artworks by modernists from America and Europe opened Saturday at the museum. "The Artists' Eye" runs through Feb. 14.
