Former Arkansas Lt. Gov. Mark Darr has repaid the state nearly $11,000 he owes for improper reimbursements he received before stepping down earlier this year. Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's office said Thursday that Darr paid the state $10,973, the amount legislative auditors said he received in improper mileage reimbursements as lieutenant governor.
The AG's office said the payment removes the need for any litigation to retrieve the money from Darr.
Darr, a Republican who was elected in 2010, resigned in February because of ethics violations tied to his office and campaign spending.
The lieutenant governor's office has remained vacant since he stepped down.
