Former President Bill Clinton is remembering his former gubernatorial chief of staff William H. Bowen, who died Wednesday at the age of 91.
Clinton says Arkansas is a better place because of Bowen, who served as his chief of staff as Clinton ran for president in 1991.
In a statement, Clinton called Bowen a "tireless advocate" for economic development and education.
Bowen was a World War II veteran and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve. He earned his law degree in taxation from New York University.
He also served as chairman of First Commercial Bank and as dean of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law, which is now named in his honor.
Funeral services are set for Monday at First United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
