Gov. Mike Beebe is urging Arkansans to find ways to honor those who have served in the nation's military throughout the year as the state is marking Veterans Day.
Speaking at a Veterans Day ceremony in downtown Little Rock, Beebe said Tuesday the nation needs to make sure it recognizes veterans and keeps commitments to them and not just limit honoring them to one day during the year.
Veterans of all ages gathered at the River Market for the annual ceremony, which marks Beebe's last as governor. The term-limited Democrat is serving his final year in office.
Beebe said the hardest part of his job as governor has been calling loved ones of armed services members from the state who have died in combat.
