New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is calling Arkansas the best opportunity for Republicans to pick up a governor's seat as he campaigns for Asa Hutchinson's gubernatorial bid.
Christie campaigned in Arkansas on Wednesday with Hutchinson, who is running against Democratic nominee and fellow ex-congressman Mike Ross for the state's top office. The two are running to succeed Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe, who cannot seek re-election because of term limits.
Christie, who is considering a run for president in 2016, chairs the Republican Governors Association. He's among a string of Republican figures who have been visiting Arkansas over the past week, including former presidential nominee Mitt Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
