Handgun Discovered At Maumelle High School Prompting Lock Down
Authorities say Maumelle High School briefly went on lockdown after a handgun was discovered in a classroom.
Pulaski County Special School District spokeswoman Deb Roush says the school went on lockdown at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday after someone saw a student with a gun.
Roush says Maumelle police responded quickly, and an 18-year-old student was taken into custody.
Maumelle police say officers discovered a .25-caliber handgun on a bookshelf in a classroom. No one was injured, and police say the threat is over.
Authorities say the school remained on lockdown until about 1 p.m. as police collected evidence. The student who was taken into custody has not been charged.
