KUAR Airs Special July 4 Weekend Programming

KUAR is offering special programming this Fourth of July holiday and weekend that will bring you the literary impact of lost fathers, an exploration of the right to vote in the United States and some of the best and most current investigative reporting you can find.

Friday, July 4, from 3-4 p.m. KUAR will re-air Arts & Letters' latest program, In Search of Lost Fathers. Arts & Letters is a production of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College Arts, Letters and Sciences. In Search of Lost Fathers originally aired on Fathers Day.

Friday, July 4 from 9-10 p.m. KUAR will air a special documentary from Humankind called The Right to Vote. It explores one of the most basic questions facing our democracy: who may participate? The program covers women's suffrage, civil rights and voter ID laws.

Saturday, July 5 from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, July 7 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. KUAR will air A Prairie Home Companion's 40th anniversary special. It's three hours of live content from the theater in Minnesota where A Prairie Home Companion broadcast its first show.

Sunday, July 6 from 6-7 a.m. and Monday, July 7 from 9-10 p.m. KUAR will air Reveal 3, the third installment in a series devoted to investigative reporting. Reveal 3 covers on-the-job injuries in the U.S. Coast Guard, arsenic in the water supply, the secrecy surrounding lethal injection drugs and the high cost of GI Bill degree. The Reveal series is a Peabody award winning program produced by PRX and the Center for Investigative Reporting.

Tuesday, July 8 from 7-8 p.m. KUAR will air The Louis Jordan Story: An Arkansongs Special in honor of the Brinkley native and prolific singer and songwriter's birthday. The Louis Jordan Story originally aired in 2008 and was written by Stephen Koch and produced  by KUAR with a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council.
