KUAR News Wins Seven Awards In Annual AP Contest

The KUAR news staff won seven awards at this year's Arkansas Associated Press Broadcasters Association banquet in Little Rock, including three first place honors.  The contest is open to AP stations within the state.

First place awards:

-Radio Website: KUAR Staff
-Use of Natural Sound: Chris Hickey, 13 Arkansas Kids Get New Families
-Enterprise, Feature or Investigative: Jacob Kauffman, Residents Concerned About Oil Spill's Health Risks

Second Place:

-Radio Newscast: Nathan Vandiver, Feb. 26, 2013, 4:32 p.m.

Third place:

-Use of Natural Sound: Michael Hibblen, Rosanne Cash Reflects As Opening Of Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Nears
-Enterprise, Feature or Investigative: Chris Hickey, Arkansas Sees Tide Of New Filmmakers
-Radio Newscast: Jacob Kauffman, Nov. 21, 2013, 5:04 p.m.

Michael Hibblen was a journalist for KUAR News from May 2009 — December 2022. During his final 10 years with the station, he served as News Director. In January 2023, he was hired by Arkansas PBS to become its Senior Producer/ Director of Public Affairs.
