LRSD School Board President Greg Adams On Possible State Takeover

With the Arkansas Board of Education to decide next week whether to take over the Little Rock School District, district officials sent a letter to board members Wednesday.

Little Rock School Board president Greg Adams says it was in response to recent doubts about the ability of his members to work collaboratively to address problems at six Little Rock schools ranked as being in academic distress.

According to Adams, at the board's Thursday meeting there will be consideration of approving a facilities priorities list, possibly including a new high school in southwest Little Rock and a middle school in west Little Rock.

Adams said both initiatives would require great compromise from members of the board. The state Board of Education will decide about whether to take over the district on January 28th after a period for public comment.
