Nearly 10,000 homes and businesses are without electricity after severe thunderstorms hit central Arkansas overnight, downing power lines and knocking tree limbs onto roadways.
Entergy Arkansas says the bulk of the outages are in Pulaski County, where 7,700 customers were without electricity Monday morning. The Storm Prediction Center says the storms knocked down several trees, while quarter-size hail was reported in western Arkansas.
No injuries have been reported.
More stormy weather is in the forecast for later Monday. The National Weather Service says widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected Monday in the state, and some could bring large hail and strong, gusty winds.
Forecasters say the tornado threat is low — but the greatest risk for a twister is in extreme eastern Arkansas.
