NLR Company 1st In State To Get OK For Commercial Drone Use

Jun 21, 2015

A North Little Rock company says it's the first in the state to receive Federal Aviation Administration approval to operate unmanned aerial systems, or drones, commercially.

Zane Anderson's Aerial Patrol Inc. has operated a commercial helicopter service out of the North Little Rock airport for decades, and it created Airborne Information Systems to launch a drone service for businesses.

Utility companies have used Aerial Patrol for years, but Anderson says he wants to persuade them to use the drone service, too.

Arkansas Business reports his drones would cost about $10,000 fully equipped and allow utility companies to safely and more efficiently inspect equipment and power lines from the air.
