Oil & Gas Industry Leaders To Meet In Little Rock

Oct 2, 2016

Two associations representing the oil and gas industries are holding a joint meeting in Little Rock this week.

Members of the Arkansas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners, or AIPRO, are meeting with the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, which describes itself as a “multi-state agency.” The meeting takes place staring Sunday Oct. 2nd  and will end Tuesday Oct. 3rd.

Numerous public officials from Arkansas will be speaking, including U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, Lt. Gov ernor Tim Griffin and Gov. Asa Hutchinson.  Oklahoma Gov.Mary Fallin, the current chairman of the IOGCC, is also to speak on Monday. Governor Fallin has overseen a period of precarious growth for the industry in recent years, as Oklahoma has experienced increased seismic activity likely resulting from disposal wells used in oil and gas drilling operations.

The industry in Arkansas is still at a relative low point after hydraulic fracturing activity reached a high about eight years ago.
