President Obama To Visit Tornado Damaged Areas In Arkansas

whitehouse.gov

President Barack Obama is scheduled to tour tornado devastated neighborhoods in Arkansas Wednesday afternoon and talk with victims.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney discussed plans briefly during Tuesday’s daily press briefing.

“The president already issued a disaster declaration and he looks forward to meeting with the victims, their family members, first responders, and local and state government officials in the wake of these storm and these tornadoes,” Carney said.

The President was invited to visit the state by U.S. Senator Mark Pryor.

Vilonia was among the hardest hit towns.  The devastation there was compounded by the fact that the community had been heavily damaged three years earlier by another tornado.
