State and federal emergency management officials say progress is being made in the recovery from deadly tornadoes, severe storms and flooding in Arkansas on April 27.
The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency said Friday that nearly $2.3 million in individual assistance has been distributed to tornado survivors and that more than half the storm debris has been collected.
The agencies also say more than $2.5 million in low-interest loans have been approved; disaster teams have visited 1,800 homes and the agencies are helping communities find ways to pay for continuing needs.
The storms are blamed for 16 deaths in the state. The deadline to register for individual assistance is June 30.
