Officials at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport say a taxiway rehabilitation project is closer to completion after a redesign.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports another version of the rehabilitation plan for Taxiway B is up for approval at the Little Rock Airport Commission meeting on Tuesday. The initial plan was approved in 2009.

According to airport officials, the project's design was almost complete when the Federal Aviation Administration issued new guidance on runway and taxiway design standards. The regulations made the Taxiway B's high-speed exit nonstandard and, thus, ineligible for FAA funds.

The new plan does not include the high-speed exit, but does include a section of Taxiway A. The new taxiway design will be built to withstand heavier weights of newer corporate aircraft.

Construction is estimated to be $16.1 million. The original cost was estimated to be $9 million.
