Romney, McCarthy Campaigning In Arkansas

Arkansas Republicans are enlisting the help of former presidential nominee Mitt Romney and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy as a string of national GOP figures visit the state ahead of the November election.

Romney on Wednesday was scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Republican gubernatorial nominee Asa Hutchinson in Jonesboro. McCarthy planned to campaign with 2nd Congressional District candidate French Hill in Little Rock on Wednesday morning, and later with 4th Congressional District candidate Bruce Westerman.

Hutchinson is running against Democratic nominee and fellow ex-congressman Mike Ross. Hill is running against Democratic hopeful Pat Hays, while Westerman faces Democratic nominee James Lee Witt.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus visited the state on Tuesday, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie plans to campaign with Hutchinson next week.
