Search Continues For Escaped Pulaski County Inmate

Authorities are continuing to search for an inmate who escaped from custody as he was being taken to a hearing at the Pulaski County courthouse.

Authorities say 30-year-old Anael Castro-Hernandez slipped out of handcuffs and ran away as a jail transport van was being unloaded outside of the county courthouse Monday morning. Castro-Hernandez evaded capture Monday and authorities say he is still missing.

Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Lt. Carl Minden says Castro-Hernandez was being held on rape charges and was due in court for a hearing regarding his mental state. The inmate was last seen wearing dark blue jail pants and a white t-shirt.

Police say Castro-Hernandez has previously used freight trains to elude authorities. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to Castro-Hernandez' capture.
