Police have identified a North Little Rock man found shot to death Sunday morning. North Little Rock Police say 28-year-old Michael Cook was found dead shortly after midnight.

Police responded to a report of gunshots and found Cook lying in the middle of the street with a single visible gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Cook was not carrying identification. Police canvassed the neighborhood and ran his fingerprints to try to identify him. They eventually asked the public for help. Police named Cook Sunday night.

There have been seven murders in the city this year. Five of those are unsolved.
