Summit Arena Gets Updated Basketball Court

Summit Arena at the Hot Springs Convention Center is getting a new look for the floor of its basketball court. The fresh design will be on display in time for the high school title games in March.

Organizers say that with the Sun Belt Conference moving its championship tournaments to New Orleans, it was time update the arena and to remove the Sun Belt logos from the playing surface.

The Sentinel-Record reports that the floor can be refinished four or five times before it needs to be replaced.

Gordon Mahoney, chief operating officer for Visit Hot Springs, says the floor panels were placed down on Monday so they could be sanded, new graphics added and finished.
