Suspect Wanted In Theft Of Dynamite Arrested In Arkansas

Garland County authorities say a Hot Springs man wanted for questioning about stolen dynamite and other explosives has been arrested.

The county sheriff's office said Wednesday that 38-year-old Jeremy Allen Bassford was arrested Tuesday afternoon for parole violation and 84 counts of stolen explosives. He is being held without bond. Details of the arrest were not released.

Investigators had said they wanted to question Bassford about the theft of explosives. The Sentinel-Record reports that dynamite and ammonium nitrate explosives were stolen sometime during February or March from a construction site near Lonsdale.

The sheriff's department said "a significant portion" of the explosives was recovered, but did not say what might have happened to the remainder.
