The University of Arkansas plans to rename a campus hall to honor the school's retired chancellor, G. David Gearhart.

The university will rename Ozark Hall after Gearhart at a Friday dedication ceremony in Fayetteville.

Gearhart served as vice chancellor for advancement from 1998 to 2008 and as the university's fifth chancellor from 2008 to 2015 before retiring on July 31.

The school says Gearhart will return to campus in fall 2016 as a faculty member of the College of Education and Health Professions.

Gearhart Hall houses the Honors College, the Graduate School and International Education and the Department of Geosciences.
