SXSW Showcase 2017 With Support From Blue Headphones
On Wednesday, March 15, NPR Music takes over Stubb's outdoor stage and presents The New Pornographers, Big Thief, Lizzo, Sylvan Esso, Hurray For The Riff Raff and PWR BTTM. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show begins at 7:30.
This showcase is open to SXSW Music and Platinum badges and general admission wristbands. Single tickets for this showcase will be for sale at the venue. For a second year running, support for the NPR Music SXSW Showcase comes from Blue Headphones, a proud sponsor of NPR since 2015.
SXSW Music Coverage
The Austin 100 web app, designed by NPR's award-winning NPR One team, is loaded with songs from NPR Music's 100 bands to discover at SXSW this year. The mixtape allows users to download every selection for free. Listen on NPRMusic.org starting March 1.
South X Lullaby Series
NPR Music escapes the bustle of the downtown Austin streets and pairs stripped-down artist performances with intimate settings. Last year's series featured performances by Lucius, Maren Morris, Holly Macve, Mt. Wolf, Timmy Thomas, A-WA, Declan McKenna and Miya Folick.
All Things Considered
With the SXSW Conference and Festival as a backdrop, All Things Considered weekend host Michel Martin will broadcast out of NPR Member station KUT 90.5 March 18-19. The show's weekend programming will include reports from NPR journalists on the ground covering the music, people and happenings of SXSW, as well as expanding on the news and stories of the week.

When online tabloid Gawker posted a sex tape starring former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, a high-stakes legal battle pitting privacy rights against the First Amendment ensued. Hogan won the case and the staggering settlement he received not only bankrupted Gawker, but exposed a controversial, behind-the-scenes benefactor: Silicon Valley venture capitalist Peter Thiel. Taking examples like Sheldon Adelson's purchase of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, this documentary illustrates a growing, sinister trend at odds with our country's free press. Billionaires are tipping the balance on the public's access to news, posing new threats to society's relationship to the truth.
