The City of Helena-West Helena in Phillips County, Arkansas is no stranger to the hardships that have plagued many communities across the country during the economic downturn.

High unemployment, a struggling education system, political upheaval, a crumbling infrastructure, and even unresolved racial inequalities were once the hallmarks of this unified city in the impoverished Arkansas Delta. However, new research findings show some positive demographic trends and community development projects have some residents saying Helen-West Helena is finally making a comeback.

Clinton Library Celebrates 50 Years Since Dr. King’s ‘Birmingham Jail’ Letter

To honor the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” over 200 6th graders from Horace Mann Magnet Middle School in Little Rock participated in special programs at the Clinton Presidential Library. 

King’s letter challenged white church leaders in Birmingham and people across the nation to confront and end racism. Kathleen Pate, the library’s education specialist, says students learned more about the history surrounding the letter and analyzed the meaning behind King’s words.

Clinton Library launches new space exhibit

This summer, visitors to the Clinton Presidential Center can experience the way astronauts live and work in outer space.

A new exhibit titled "Space: from the Moon to Mars" runs from June 6th through August 30th and features fascinating artifacts, models, and memorabilia from the Clinton Library's archives, NASA, and other aerospace institutions.
