Organist Betty Cohen to Present Retirement Recital on May 20 at First United Methodist An organ recital will be held Sunday, May 20, at Conway First United Methodist Church to celebrate the retirement of the church’s longtime organist Betty Cohen. A part of the church’s “Under the Dome” series, Mrs. Cohen will present “A Few of My Favorite Things,” as a celebration of her nearly 25 years as organist at Conway FUMC. The recital will include music by Bach, Burkhardt, Krebs, Franck, and others. Mrs. Cohen is a 1969 graduate of Hendrix College and received her master of music degree from Northwestern University. She has served as organist at First United Methodist Church in Conway since 1993, and is a former piano, organ and music theory professor at the University of the Ozarks. She is also active in the Central Arkansas Chapter, American Guild of Organists. The recital is at 3 p.m. May 20 in the Sanctuary at the church at 1610 Prince St. (corner of Prince and Clifton streets). The recital is free and open to the public, so please invite your friends, family and neighbors. A reception will be held following the recital.
