Arkansas AG: School Must Name Teachers In Gun Program

Former Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel

Arkansas' attorney general says a school district that trained teachers and staff to carry concealed handguns on campus must name the participants in the program.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Monday said that the Clarksville School District was wrong to withhold the names of more than 20 teachers and staff that it had trained to work as volunteer security guards who would carry concealed handguns during the school day.

McDaniel last week said that the board that regulates private investigators was wrong to issue licenses to Clarksville and other school districts that would allow them to arm teachers and staff.

The board is expected to discuss the licenses at a meeting next week. McDaniel wrote the opinion in response to KHBS-TV, which had requested the records.
