More than 600 medical professionals, pharmacists, law enforcement officers and educators are gathering in Arkansas for the state's third annual summit on prescription drug abuse.
The summit is being held Wednesday at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock and includes discussions on residential treatment, prescription abuse trends, community response to drug abuse and other topics. The luncheon's keynote speaker will be Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, who is president of the National Association of Attorneys General.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's office said the goal of the summit to help reduce the number of deaths and addiction caused by prescription drug misuse and abuse, and to raise public awareness.
