Arkansas Museum Buys Candy Exhibit For $7.6 Million

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art says it's acquired an exhibit made entirely of candy.

The museum in Bentonville announced its acquisition of "Untitled" by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, who died in 1996.

Crystal Bridges says the exhibit will include an "endless supply" of the green, cellophane-wrapped candy, which will be spread across the gallery floor.

Visitors will be encouraged to touch, take and even eat the candy and it will routinely be replenished. Christie's says the work sold for $7.6 million last week at auction.

It was previously part of a private collection. Crystal Bridges was founded by Wal-Mart heiress Alice Walton and opened to the public in 2011.
